So we made it to our interview:
Gerardo and Armando at the interview.
Gerardo is really an amazing dude, and i'm not just saying that because he reads my blog ;) he set up 2 shows for us in Merida and was our tour guide for all 7 days that we were there. Armando is THE MAN!! He's a jazz guitarist and a really great improvisor. We performed with him and stayed at his parents house or rather the studio apartment next door, which was amazing. He took us around to the beach, Uxmal, anywhere that we needed to go he took us. Thanks dudes, I felt so welcomed and blessed to know people like you.
Here's a quick recap of Gerardos life as shown on his wall in his bedroom, his mom is HOT, according to Chris that is ;)
Before the interview Chris ended up drinking 2 cubano espressos in 30 minutes and got all excited and caffinated, note his big eyeballs, hilarious:
Our AMAZING studio apartment that was next to Armandos parents house. It was so beautiful.
We had a pool and our OWN TIA!!! HOORAY FOR TIAS!!!
She liked me and immediatley called me "Mari", I felt like I was immediatly at home.
We went to the beach:
We spent a full day just swimming in the pool. Just below the house is a cenota
so all of the water in the pool came from fresh underground water.
And the cat hung out with us all day long:
Ate FOOD
I loved how all the parks in Merida had these seats everywhere. Like secret seats for secret lovers, que romantico no????
To get to the CENOTAS we had to take a little horse for 2 miles on a rickety wooden thingy. Not my style but whatever. CENOTAS are scary as hell. Really beautiful but scary, really really scary...
El CERVANTINO:
Here's a portion of photos that Michael took during soundcheck. It looks like Chris and I are arguing over something but really we were just talking about where to go for food after set up:
This was the venue for the second show that we performed before we left. My mixer completely broke down during the performance and we were having non-stop equipment problems after Chris's solo set. So it wasn't a good performance on my part. But Chris's portion was awesome, so I was happy for him.
Believe it or not, theres even more photos of Uxmal and other adventures but this is all for today. You've got to admit, I'm sticking to this blog thing now. Watch me not post anything for another 6 months, that would be funny....x-m
