SCATTER #1:

I actually already made this one as a gift for Kaffe Matthews and am working on a larger version of this scatter on a painting I made for Michael a few years ago. That one is super minimal, just black outlines with filled in black circles, nothing fancy. I was working on SCATTER #1 while traveling between Berlin and London. It was a super minimal interpretation but I think it turned out nicely. My approach for the SCATTER #3 piece will be a focus of the scatter as a whole shape rather than many squares.
Splatter #4

This is an interesting idea that i came across one day walking to the store. I really like how directional the "accident" is. A classic case of leading lines. Unintentional leading lines I guess.....This guy is going to be tricky. But I'm confident that it will turn out nicely.
SCATTER #4

A nice situation that I found just outside my store one evening. I have been looking forward to working on this piece for a few months now, so it will be nice to see it when it's finished. I want to use bright white silk thread for this guy.
Thomas Dexter and I are working on an interesting video/ sound piece that really approaches this interest I have with the spontaneous act of a situation and it's impression left behind. The inspiration for this situation that happened to me, Michael and Ken on the Queensbourough Bridge one evening brings to my mind the idea of Robert Smithson and his work with contained glass shards:

Contained dirt and "infinty" reflections:

And the most contained of all! The Sprial Jetty:

A controlled accident? An impulsive staged production? We'll find out....on that note I will leave you with the image of Christian Marclay's guitar, another piece that comes to mind during the planning stages of the shooting for this piece.

more soon....
