Meet Matthew:
He likes to eat rabbit with his bare claws. Such a monster. He's the architect/DJ that I always talk about when it comes to mixes on my blog. He's also one of my closest friends and wing man when we go out to disco-tecs, like we will tonight at APT. Duane is DJing, you should go, it's in the meatpacking area. It's one of my least favorite areas to go to i.e. really tall beautiful snobby undiscovered eastern european models waiting in a bunch of different lines for the "hot" new club, makes me feel short and indigenous. Which isn't so bad, but you know how those people are, you're nothing unless you're like 6'2 with long hair and white skin. But I digress....
The last time I was at APT it was Donielle's (Duane's main squeeze) birthday:
she had fun....
bitch know's how to pose, that's for sure.
Someone wrote a happy birthday greeting for her in the bathroom, everyone loves Donielle.
The night's at APT normally start off innocently enough, but then turn into a night of debauchery of some kind.
Just because, here's my little doggy Leo:
I love him. He's my best friend.
Here's my other favorite girl that I don't see very often but when i do see her we always have a great time. EMILY!!
Can you imagine if these 2 had babies, they would have the curliest hair on the planet.
After running into Emily-the-great I saw this truck which seemed to have been run into by something a little more sinister.
And of course the NYPD gave the poor truck a ticket and stuffed it in the exposed engine. Those traffic cops man, heartless...
And since we're on the topic of friends old and new I figure i'll post photos of my friend Donna at work in her studio in Tribeca. Donna is a citizen of the world, here in NYC for an artist residency with the Lower Manhattan arts league (or something like that) and they gave her an amazing space to work on her pieces.
I've bee hanging out with her a lot lately since she's been in town.
and as it turns out we have similar taste in shoes....observe..
Just realized I don't have a photo of my cream booties, but I have a pair that's similar. We were walking around Soho one day unintentionally wearing the same shoes and were super embarrassed. People kept staring at us. Maybe it was because of our Incan beauty, but it was probably the shoes.
Donna and I used to have a duo together called FAST!FAST!CASH! that was short lived but really good. She's been working on the felt and hot glue murals for a while now and had a show in Berlin and Poland recently. I guess her next destination will be going to Argentina to work with her man Eduardo who is also an artist. He's a nice guy. We have a love hate relationship which is actually starting to grow on me. It must be our Incan tempers or something.
Her friend who just moved to NYC from Dallas, TX was there this day and wore a really cute feather headdress th reminded me of a small show happening right now at the MET about Peruvian feather decor and headdresses. It's a really beautiful show, i highly recommend it.
Later that night we were walking to my place in greenpoint and ran into this ver very large rat. I freaked out for obvious reasons, but it turned out to be a plastic rat that someone just left in the middle of the side walk.
There, now my camera is cleaned out just in time for tonight and tomorrow's parties.
More soon with photos of my really large piece for this thing at the Emily Harvey Gallery I've been working on and hopefully some kind of footage of my performance from Roulette a few weeks ago.
Traveling, performing, making, dressing and more...
