Went to New Orleans this past weekend with Michael to meet up with his best friends Jared (who will turn 30 in July)and Jason (who turned 30 earlier this month) for his 30th birthday. It's our last birthday together since we have recently split up and I move to my own place in the beginning of March. That will make 2 moves in 3 months, yuck. So as the best ex-girlfriend in the world, what did I get Michael for his BIG 3-0? An I-PHONE!!! YESIDIDD!!!!! He was really excited and we had a great time.
This is Jared n Sarah (who is MY best friend since high school). Yeah yeah, Michaels best friend and my best friend met while we were all living in Houston and fell in love and have since moved to Seattle. It's so cute it's sick......

Jason and his wif-eee Anna. They live in Austin, love these two.

New Orleans is a land of scary shadows. Haunting, for reals....

After dinner on Friday we went to get Beignets, found some more possibilities for my splatter series:

I'm so sweet that I BLEED powdered sugar. Such-a-nerd.

My friend Tatsuya was having a show. I missed it.

years and years of gigs....

Michael dancing with his glowing white collar.....

Mmmmmm, shrimp salad in an avocado with a side of seafood gumbo.....

A perfect Sunday in the French Quarter..

Hurricanes and Mint Juleps, sooo southern....

Now I don't want to get all "GOOOOO New Orleans!!" but man, the people of New Orleans have really managed to maintain a normal way of life considering the COMPLETE devastation that they went through 2 1/2 years ago. Even without any help from the American government and the state they have really rebuilt the city and there is a sense of pride that is so much stronger than I remember. Everyone we spoke to about Hurricane Katrina said that the best way to help the city is to tell more people to come down and visit and spend lots of money. So here's my recommendation, GO TO NEW ORLEANS!! STAY IN THE FRENCH QUARTER! EAT LOTS OF SEAFOOD! DRINK MANY MINT JULEPS! You can even get them TO GO!! Where else can you do that...well OK I know there's other places but they're not New Orleans! You will not be disappointed. I promise. New Orleans man, it's hip.

------When we got back late Monday night we had a birthday part to go to!!!
HOORAY!!! TOMMY!! 27 years!!!

Tommy is one half owner of the fabulous store in Greenpoint "Alter", go here to see what the boys are up to: http://www.alterbrooklyn.blogspot.com/

Tommy's and Alter's other half Roy the magnificent!!

Apparently he is not the daddy....
2 shop owners being silly....was a fun but tiring evening, went home and passed out...

Off to bed, been working on grants that are due in the next week or so, and getting ready for the big move and filming this weekend, another post coming soon about my short but awesome visit with my favorite silk screen artist James Morrison at his Greenpoint studio earlier today. He's getting ready for an opening happening in Halifax. If you want to see his work, just get on the Bowery to the New New Museum, his pieces are for sale there in the gift shop. Or got to Printed Matter, where he sells even more pieces...goo'night...
